Seacoast's Victoria Arlen Featured on ESPYs

The Olympic gold medalist was a runner-up for the "Best Female Athlete With a Disability" award.

Exeter's Victoria Arlen, who won a gold medal in the 2012 London Paralympics, was featured on ESPN's ESPYs award show Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old Arlen, a swimmer, won a gold and three silvers in the Paralympics. Earlier this month, she graduated from Exeter High School.

Arlen, who is in a wheelchair after suffering from transverse myelitis, was nominated for a "Best Female Athlete With a Disability" ESPY. The award went to Jessica Long, a swimmer who won eight medals at the 2012 Paralympics and has no feet from Fibular hemimelia.

"So exciting to be a part of the 2013 @ESPYS I didn't win but I am super proud to have been nominated! #CongratsToAll #ThanksForVoting," tweeted Arlen after Wednesday's awards ceremony.
