Alleged Latin King's Sentencing Delayed

James "Jayda" Abrosi's federal sentencing on six charges has been pushed back from Tuesday to March 22.

A Hampton man accused of running a drug ring while belonging to a local chapter of the Latin Kings gang won't be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Concord on Tuesday after the man's defense attorney was granted more time to resolve issues with a plea deal negotiated with prosecutors, according to the Hampton Union.

James "Jayda" Ambrosi, 31, of Hampton, had agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and five counts of distribution of a controlled substance in exchange for prosecutors to drop their recommendation for the 20-year maximum sentence, according to the paper.

The Hampton Union has reported that Defense Attorney Jonathan Saxe received the continuance — which pushes the sentencing to March 22 — because he's disputing prosecutors' claims that Ambrosi is a member of the Latin Kings. The paper has reported that claim is based on conversations Ambrosi had while selling drugs to undercover police officers during a yearlong investigation.

Ambrosi was one of eight individuals arrested following a substantial multi-town drug raid in Hampton Beach and Seabrook in May 2012. Marijuana and cocaine were seized during the raids, and Ambrosi was allegedly the leader of the local drug ring.
