WHS Can't Overcome Early 'Challenge' Deficit

A hot start by the opponents did in Winnacunnet's quiz team, which won't be moving on to the next round.

The Winnacunnet High School Warriors lost 255-125 to the Kingswood Regional High School Knights Sunday in the opening round of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge, an annual quiz contest that pits 16 Granite State high schools against each other in a battle of quick wits and teamwork.

The Knights staked out an early lead and never relinquished it, doubling up the Warriors' score despite strong efforts from Winnacunnet captain James Desrosiers and teammates Alex Howard, Gianna Pierro and Jack Knollmeyer, according to NHPTV.

The team, coached by Kevin Fleming and Andy Gushee, had to answer questions from a variety of school subjects — math, science, social studies, language and fine arts — as well as questions about a variety of pop culture-, news- and sports-related topics, according to NHPTV.
