Manchester Man Shot To Death In Second City Park Homicide
Thamba Mbungu, 20, died of gunshot wounds at Derryfield Park. Investigators are asking for the public's help to solve the case.
MANCHESTER, NH — The man found unresponsive on Sunday next to a playground in a Manchester park has been identified as Thamba Mbungu, 20, of Manchester.
Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg conducted an autopsy on Mbungu, whose body was found at Derryfield Park on Sunday morning. Weinberg determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the back. The manner of death is homicide, a report stated.
Manchester fire and AMR ambulance responded to a call for an unresponsive man at Derryfield Park on Bridge Street in Manchester on Sunday.

At about 7:40 a.m., firefighters reported the person was dead and Manchester police responded to the scene. Police immediately cordoned off large portions of the park with crime scene tape and several cruisers were stationed at entrances to the park, playground, and several sports fields, to keep visitors away from the crime scene.
Several people gathered at the edge of the crime scene tape identifying themselves as family and friends of the victim Sunday.

Manchester School District on Monday posted a statement on their Facebook page
A GoFundMe page was set up Sunday by Femi Fatukasi looking for assistance in gathering donations to help with funeral expenses. On the page it said:
"It’s with great sadness in my heart to hear the terrible news about this great soul we all deeply loved this man. He was a great soccer player and we’d all hope to see him go pro. Even if you can’t donate, please share! Let’s continue to show love to one another. God bless his family and everyone else. May his soul rest in peace.”
This is the second homicide in a Manchester city park in less than a month.
A man died of blunt force trauma to the head when allegedly he was beaten and kicked by two men. He was rushed to the hospital from the park but succumbed to his injuries. Police have made two arrests for assault in the case, but no one has been specifically charged with the death.
