Three Manchester Officers Involved In Fatal Shooting Identified

Nickenley Turenne, 24 of Manchester, was fatally shot earlier this month on Mammoth Rd. Protests and vigils continue to be held.

MANCHESTER, NH — The names of the three officers who fired their weapons and killed a 24-year-old Manchester man have been identified by the NH Attorney General’s Office.

The shooting on Mammoth Road was preceded by a short pursuit of a vehicle that had been parked near a school. When police approached the vehicle, it fled and crashed into a fence a short distance away.

Nickenley Turenne, who police say was driving the car, fled on foot, and after a “confrontation” with police, he was shot and killed. A woman who had been in the car with Turenne was detained at gunpoint but did not flee; she is not facing any charges.

The Manchester Police Department and the officers involved are cooperating with the investigation, and the officers’ voluntary interviews were completed late this afternoon, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

The Attorney General’s Office and state police Major Crime are continuing their investigation into whether the officer’s use of deadly force was justified and will release the results once the investigation is complete.

Several sources have said that Turenne was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

Vigils for Turenne have been held at the location of the shooting for the past two Saturdays. At the most recent vigil, the father of the victim located five shell casings that were still at the scene. A protest was also held outside the Manchester Police station on Saturday.

Two residences near where the shooting occurred have bullet holes in their walls.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation. The final report on officer-involved shootings has taken up to a year in past cases.
