Council to Discuss Town Manager, Other Vacancies

The town plans on hiring a new manager, planning director and senior affairs coordinator.

A non-public meeting related to current job vacancies will take place on Dec. 10, and will involve Town Council members and Acting Town Manager William Hart.

"(The meeting is) regarding hiring and personnel matters," said Hart on Tuesday. "I can't really talk about it beyond that but we have a couple of decisions to make."

While he didn't specify those decisions, Councilors are currently looking over candidate resumes for Londonderry's new town manager. A vacancy was also left on Oct. 12 after Planning and Economic Development Director Andre Garron left his post.

At the time, Garron said that his decision to leave for a job at the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension was not related to the reorganization of his department, but rather he just saw a better opportunity.

Hart is currently filling a post left vacant after former Town Manager David Caron resigned in July amidst a controversy on impact fees.

During a Town Council meeting on Monday, Councilors indicated that the list for Town Manager candidates has been narrowed to 10, and they hope to narrow it to three during the closed door meeting.

The Union Leader reported earlier this week that a third position – Senior Affairs Coordinator – is also vacant. Kimberly Bean, who began working for the town in July 2011 according to the report, resigned this month.
