Flood Watch in Effect this Weekend

Here are five things you should know in Londonderry today.

1. The weatherman says ... Showers early transition into a steady, at times heavy, rain in the afternoon through early Saturday as Tropical Storm Andrea drenches the East Coast. The forecasted high today, according to Weather.com, is 58 degrees.

2. Flood watch. The aforementioned anticipated heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for much of southern New Hampshire, from noon today through 10 a.m. Saturday. Rainfall is likely to reach two to four inches, with five or more inches possible in some areas.

3. Title time? The top-seeded Londonderry baseball team squeaked by No. 13 Pinkerton Academy with a 2-1 win in the Division I semifinals Wednesday night at Nashua's Holman Stadium. Now, the Lancers are now set to face No. 11 Exeter for the state crown on on Saturday, June 8, at 1 p.m., at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, in Manchester.

4. Folly ball ... The Londonderry boys volleyball team, which began its playoff push Tuesday with a 3-0 victory against Souhegan High School of Amherst, fell, 3-1, to No. 3 Windham in the state semifinals Thursday at Pinkerton Academy.

5. On this day ... June 7, 1913 the first ascent of Mount McKinley was recorded, according to History.com
