Londonderry Man, With Life-Threatening Injuries, Flown To Boston

LONDONDERRY, NH — Londonderry police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a crash on Rockingham Road near Perkins Road on Wednesday involving a pedestrian who was struck.

Responders arrived and found a man with serious life-threatening injuries and immediately requested a Boston MedFlight helicopter to the scene.

Londonderry Fire Battalion Chief James Rogers said firefighters and medics provided life-saving medical care at the scene while waiting for the helicopter. The helicopter landed on Rockingham Road and the patient was transferred from a Londonderry ambulance to the helicopter. The victim was then flown to a Boston hospital.

Londonderry Police Capt. Patrick Cheetham said the pedestrian is a 42-year-old Londonderry resident and confirmed they had serious life-threatening injuries. He said all the people involved and several witnesses remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators.

Police closed Rockingham at Perkins while investigators took measurements and took photographs. A maroon Kia with heavy front end damage and a damaged window was parked on the side of the road.

Cheetham said that the victim's relatives are being notified and police will await releasing the name of the pedestrian until notifications are made.
