Man Arrives At Hospital With Head Injury From Baseball Bat Attack

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police are investigating an assault involving a baseball bat on Lowell Street on Sunday.

Police responded to the Elliot Hospital for a report of a man who was assaulted at a Lowell Street address at about 10 p.m. The victim told police that he had gone to visit someone. Before he entered the building, he was met by David Malaquias, 41, according to police. The victim told police an argument ensued between him and Malaquias.

The victim reported during the argument, Malaquias retrieved an aluminum baseball bat and swung the bat striking him in the head twice, according to police.

Manchester police spokesperson Heather Hamel said the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police made contact with Malaquias and he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with 2 counts of first-degree assault and is scheduled to appear in
Hillsborough Superior Court-North Monday.
