LONDONDERRY, NH — A man was seriously injured in a rollover vehicle accident in a construction zone on Interstate 93 in Londonderry Monday night. Phillip William Todisco, 60, of Pensacola, Florida, suffered serious head injuries after the SUV he was driving rolled over several times at high speed and he was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Elliot Hospital after the crash, which occurred near Exit 4 on I-93 northbound, according to State Police.

Police say that around 7:33 p.m. Monday, Todisco was driving north at high speed when his vehicle struck a small sedan in the right lane, driven by a 21-year-old Manchester man who escaped injury. After the impact, the direction of Todisco's SUV changed to the left and the vehicle struck the large orange construction barriers, traveling through the barriers and going into a "yaw-type skid," State Police say. The SUV then struck the concrete barrier at a high rate of speed, causing the interlinked barriers to move about six feet. Police say the SUV rolled over several times before coming to rest against a barrier further north of the accident, on the high-speed side.
Todisco was not wearing a seat belt, and the initial police investigation shows that he was ejected out of the vehicle's moon-roof and into the pavement in the accident, State Police said in a statement. When officers arrived to the scene, they found Todisco lying on the roadway with significant injuries. They found the red Kia Sorrento SUV about 30 feet away, facing south in a northbound lane. The vehicle had heavy damage on all sides and the airbags were deployed, State Police say.
The affected portion of the highway was fully closed to traffic for about 20 minutes as officials evaluated Todisco's injuries and took reports from witnesses. Londonderry Fire and EMS responded to the scene and provided initial evaluation and treatment. The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call State Police at 603-223-4381.
