Man Reportedly Involved In Londonderry Hit And Run Leads To SWAT Incident
Kyle Barka, 31 wanted for reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, barricaded himself in an apartment where police say he attacked a police K9
MANCHESTER, NH — New Hampshire State Troopers received calls of a reported hit-and-run crash on Interstate 93 southbound in Londonderry Monday just after 7:00 a.m. Troopers responded and determined the driver of a black 2019 Acura ILX, later identified as Kyle Barka, 31, of Manchester, struck a black 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan from the rear on the interstate.
The preliminary investigation determined that while both vehicles were pulled over on the I-93 southbound Exit 4 offramp, the operator of the Volkswagen exited their vehicle in an attempt to exchange information with Barka, the driver of the Acura.
Barka then proceeded to drive forward and struck the driver of the Volkswagen, who was standing behind the Volkswagen. Barka then left the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries.

For several hours, police continued to keep the house surrounded and negotiated with the man, who could be seen yelling out the first-floor window.
A warrant was issued by a judge for felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon from the incident earlier in the day. Once the warrant was obtained police made entry into the apartment.
When police entered the apartment, Barka became actively resistive and began assaulting an MPD K9, striking the dog with a chair, according to police.
The suspect struggled with officers and the K-9 and then jumped out of the first-floor window. The man continued to fight with police and the K9 until he was able to be handcuffed and his legs secured.

Barka had an active arrest warrant from NHSP Troop B for felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon stemming from the hit-and-run accident in Londonderry. He was also charged with felony-level willful interference with police dogs and two counts of misdemeanor-level Resisting Arrest by the Manchester Police Department related to today’s arrest. The dog was uninjured in the incident.
An AMR ambulance that had been staged at the scene transported the man to the Elliot Hospital for treatment for K9 bites and a mental health evaluation.
