
A 75-year-old man was killed in a Chester parking lot on Sept. 22 when he was hit by a GMC Yukon, according to state police.
Robert Young, 75 of Derry, N.H. was entering Your Variety Store at 692 Raymond Road when he was struck by the SUV.
According to police, The operator of the vehicle was Karen Sheley, 45, of Chester, N.H., who went to apply the brakes when she noticed Young behind her vehicle. She pressed the gas pedal instead which caused the GMC to accelerate hitting the pedestrian and pushing him into a large ice cooler.

Young was transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester where he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Sheley was transported to Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H. to be checked out.

Responding to the scene was the N.H. State Police TAR Unit, Chester Police, Raymond Police and Chester Fire/Rescue.
