Salon Bogar is doing several things to campaign this month.

Salon Bogar isn't new to campaigns for good causes.
Salon manager Ellen Donovan said that a lot of times, decisions on what philanthropic effort to support often come down to things that are important to staff members.
"A lot of times staff members will come to us with something that is kind of near and dear to them, something that is personally affecting them," she said.

Start with the pink pedicures and manicures, which are being offered all month to customers.
Donovan said that a portion of proceeds for both will go toward "Jamie's Journey," a team participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Manchester on Oct. 21.
"A family member of one of our staff members is actively going through breast cancer treatment," Donovan said. "We have several of our staff members that are going to be walking with her that day as well."
Of 30 plus employees at the salon, at least half will participate in the walk.
Salon Bogar is also doing pink hair extensions for customers in October, with proceeds going toward the Pink Hair for Hope charity in association with the American Cancer Society.
Two products for October – an OPI "pink of hearts" polish collection and a Cherish pink lip gloss – will also be available. More details on the products can be found on the Salon Bogar blog.
Donovan said that she thinks a lot of people on her staff have a connection to breast cancer, with one person on staff also having gone through treatment before.
"I think that as a longtime business in the community that we have a responsibility to reach out and take care of the community," Donovan said. "We absolutely welcome the opportunity.
