Shea-Porter Honors Steve Arkell

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, D-NH, paid tribute to slain Brentwood Police Officer Stephen Arkell in remarks delivered on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on May 19.

Shea-Porter spoke of having just attended the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony in Concord. A video of her remarks is attached.

"My thoughts and prayers are with them as they face life without their hero, without our hero, Stephen Arkell," Shea-Porter said of Mrs. Arkell and their two daughters. "We all owe Officer Arkell a tremendous debt of gratitude for the courage and sacrifice he showed. He's a true hero along with Fremont Officer Derek Franek who risked death himself trying to save him."
