Shooting Reported Near Manchester Central High School
VIDEO: Black car was seen leaving the scene where one person was shot next to the school. The victim appears to have been shot in the leg.
MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester police, fire and AMR responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound on Amherst Street on Wednesday.
Police flooded the area at about 1:15 p.m. and blocked nearby streets as firefighters and medics began to treat a person with a gunshot wound. The victim was brought from Amherst Street, near Ash Street which is adjacent to Manchester Central High School.
MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel says that one person has a gunshot wound that appears to be non-life-threatening.

The victim was placed on a stretcher and brought to a waiting ambulance and appeared to be speaking to the responders as he was being brought to the ambulance. The victim is believed to be a male, and his age is unknown.

The age of the victim is unknown at this time, and there is no official information if the victim was a student at the school or not.
Police found shell casings in the travel portion of Amherst Street near the corner of Ash Street. A witness could be heard telling police he heard multiple “pops” that sounded like gunfire.
Hamel said a black car was seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.
The school was immediately put in a secure campus mode and the area around the school was secured and dismissal will take place as usual according to police.
