Snow Causes Crashes Across Southern NH
Dozens of accidents were reported due to the slippery conditions.
Dozens of crashes were reported throughout southern New Hampshire on Tuesday afternoon due to the snow-covered roadways.
Accidents first started being reported around noon as the snow began accumulating on local streets. Crashes were reported on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth and Hampton Falls around that time, and on Route 125 in Brentwood. A portion of Interstate 93 south of Concord also had to be closed temporarily due to multiple accidents. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation lowered maximum speeds on all state highways to 45 mph.
A partial train derailment in Nashua due to snow on the tracks also temporarily blocked all but one lane of traffic on Main Street.
Reports of crashes continued to roll in throughout the afternoon, and are beginning to pick up again as people commute home from work. An overturned vehicle was reported on Interstate 93 north in Londonderry around 5:30 p.m., and a car off the road was reported near Exit 4 on the Everett Turnpike south in Nashua a short time earlier.
