Tim Murray Slams Romney on Massachusetts Record
The lieutenant governor of Massachusetts took a tour of the Young Road facility.
Stumping for President Obama in New Hampshire on Oct. 23, Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray stopped by three fire stations, including one in Londonderry, to slam Mitt Romney's record from when he served as governor of the Commonwealth.
Murray accused Romney of having a "lack of understanding or respect for the work that working men and women do" every day.
He referenced the Worcester cold storage warehouse fire of 1999, which killed six firefighters.

Several years later, Murray said that the city put together a plan with the families of those firefighters to consolidate two stations and erect a living memorial on the site of the Worcester fire.
"We put together a finance plan – $4 million – Gov. Romney, we needed $2 million in state money, the legislature put that money in, and he vetoed it," Murray said.

At that time, Murray served as the mayor of Worcester.
Murray said that in Romney's four years as governor he never met with leadership of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.
"I know sometimes those meetings aren't easy and they're not always pleasant because you're not going to agree on everything," Murray said. "But you need to respect people and more importantly listen. Listen to better understand, and that just didn't happen."
