What is a TIF District and Why is Londonderry Proposing One?
Here are seven things you should probably know today in Londonderry.

1. August is Eat Local Month! Gov. Maggie Hassan has officially proclaimed August New Hampshire Eat Local Month. She is encouraging all citizens and businesses to participate and support local farms. What better time to celebrate and enjoy all that our local food community has to offer! The official proclamation can be found by clicking here.
2. TIF me, maybe? The Town of Londonderry now has a site set up on its website for the new proposed Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District, which is aimed at upgrading 1,200 acres of industrial property around Pettengill Road, between the Manchester-Boston regional airport and Route 28. 3. Old is good! The 2013 Londonderry Old Home Day celebration kicks off on Wednesday and runs through Sunday. Find additional details here!
4. The weatherman says ... We've got a pretty nice-looking week on tap weather-wise, with today being the exception. According to the National Weather Service, today is going to be rainy, rainy, rainy. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the morning, followed by more rain and likely a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. and a high near 77. Tonight, showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
5. Welcome back! Londonderry High School alum and former gubernatorial candidate Kevin Smith returns to Londonderry this week to assume his new post as town manager. He is scheduled to begin work on Thursday, Aug. 15.
6. Buzz kill. The Town of Londonderry will be spraying to control adult mosquitoes for Old Home Days today, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. For a detailed list of spraying locations, click here.
7. Don't go there ... Well, you can, but you may have to wait as Londonderry Town Hall will be closed on Aug. 15, from 12-1 p.m.
