Monday Essentials: What's Up in Londonderry this Week?

We've selected five things you should know heading into this late July week in Londonderry.

1. Get your groove on! The Bruce Marshall Group is the latest band to highlight the Londonderry Concerts on the Common schedule. They play this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Londonderry Town Common, with a backup location of the Londonderry High School Cafeteria, in case of rain. This week's show is described as follows:

The Bruce Marshall Group live show treats their fans to a soaring ride as they rip through a catalog of original material that truly sets this band apart. They love to mix it up, whether it’s pulling off exciting jams that build with dynamics and layering, or playing the concise arrangements of their songs with discipline and taste. The sound defies categorization, slipping seamlessly around touches of Blues, R&B, Rock and Southern Boogie. The interplay between Bruce and longtime guitarist Dave Cournoyer is the heart and soul of their performances and they always deliver. The songs are mostly upbeat, but even those dealing with love lost and missed opportunities, carry an underlying sense of hope and optimism. The band also does several covers of country favorites.

2. A drastic drop in temperatures? Well, perhaps "drastic" is a bit strong, but considering temperatures were hovering around 100 degrees last week, the reality that the forecasted high for most of the week is in the upper 70s should make some people smile. In fact, Weather.com projects weekday temperatures to peak Wednesday at 83 degrees. Get your full Londonderry five-day weather forecast here.

3. Your library lowdown. Want to get the kids out of the heat and into reading? Well, Londonderry's Leach Library has ongoing children's programs all week, including "Walk like an Egyptian" today at 11 a.m. For a complete list of Leach Library activities and programs, click here.
