- Two men were arrested on Tuesday afternoon in Manchester after one of the men fired a gun at a dog, leading to a standoff. A witness identified one of the men standing next to a parked car on Merrimack Street, when officers went to apprehend the shooter he ignored their orders and headed into a building that was surrounded afterward. Ayden Rainer, 29, reportedly did not cooperate with the police and tried to walk away from the building. Curtis Massey, 25, was said to be found hiding on the second floor, with a gun nearby. - On Tuesday evening, a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle, and the driver was charged with DUI. At 6:25 p.m., Manchester police responded to the area of Maple and Pearl Street on reports of the crash, where 34-year-old Matthew Davis Webb allegedly struck a 79-year-old man in the roadway. The victim of the crash sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The incident remains under active investigation; anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department. (manchesterinklink.com)
- A Manchester family is calling for a safety investigation after their 5-year-old fell from a third-story window and lost his life. In January 2023, the child fell from the window in his Elm Street apartment building and succumbed to his injuries while hospitalized. This incident marks the second of its kind in the area — last year, a 7-year-old boy also fell from a third-story window and suffered injuries. According to a lawyer representing the family, the current focus is convincing a city or state agency to investigate the safety of the windows, in an effort to ensure no other families have to go through the grieving they are.
