Excavator Rolls Off Trailer In Merrimack, Greeley Street Closed

An excavator rolled over when it fell off a construction trailer. Two tow trucks uprighted the vehicle and placed it on the trailer.

MERRIMACK, NH — Greeley Street in Merrimack was closed for several hours on Wednesday after a large excavator fell off a trailer.

A dump truck pulling the trailer was traveling north on the Daniel Webster Highway at about 11:30 a.m. and was turning onto Greeley Street when the excavator rolled off the trailer and landed on the road. The trailer remained upright and attached to the dump truck.

Merrimack fire, police, and New Hampshire State Police responded to the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured and did not require medical attention. Merrimack firefighters mitigated the fluids leaking from the excavator and closed Greeley Street.

Bailey Towing and Duval’s towing were called to the scene to upright the excavator. The 20-ton excavator was lifted and turned over. The tow company lifted it onto the trailer and properly secured it.

New Hampshire DOT assisted at the scene and assessed the damage to the pavement. State Police highway enforcement is investigating the accident.
