5 Things: Ban on Loud Commercials in Effect Today
'The Hobbit' hits theaters at midnight tonight.

1. How CALMing. Tired of having to turn down your TV when the commercials come on during your favorite show? Those days should be over. The CALM Act (Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation) which limits how loud TV commercials can be goes into effect today. According to the Associated Press, "The act is designed to prevent TV commercials from blaring at louder volumes than the program content they accompany. The rules govern broadcasters as well as cable and satellite operators." Read more here.
2. The Hobbit. Tolkein fans, it's here! "The Hobbit" hits theaters tonight for a midnight premiere across the country, including Cinemagic in Merrimack. "The Hobbit" is playing in two theaters at 11:58 and 11:59 p.m. and tickets are on sale. Visit Cinemagic Theaters' website for more information.
