5 Things: Borrow an eReader From the Library

Volunteers are needed to help out at the ice rinks on O'Gara Drive behind the tennis courts.

1. eReaders now available. The Merrimack Public Library's eReaders are now available for residents to check out. Both Nooks and Kindles are available and they come loaded with content and are lent out with the necessary chargers and in protective cases. These eReaders may be checked out by library card holders 18 and older. Parents may check out eReaders for their children but assume responsibility for the care of the devices.

2. Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday. The Merrimack Public Library will Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on Saturday, March 2, with some themed drop-in activities in the Children's Room. Celebrate Read Across America Day by visiting the library Saturday and participating in an activity. Teddie, a certified reading dog, will be available for children and adults to practice reading to him from 10:30 a.m.-noon and children can also enjoy a book with the Lions Club mascot Melvin the Lion from 11 a.m. to noon. More information here.

3. Volunteers needed. The volunteers who maintain the town ice rink on O'Gara Drive have been busier than in recent winters this year, and could use some help. Volunteers are needed to help after the rinks close to help treat the ice. If you're interested in more information, contact Kristin Wardner or Becky Thompson in the Town Manager's office at 424-2331.
