5 Things: MHS Boys Hockey Moves on to Finals
Snowstorm rolling in today expected to be lighter than first anticipated.

Here are five things you should know as you start your Thursday.
1. Winter weather. Today's snowstorm's totals have been downgraded to about 3-6 inches in Merrimack and surrounding communities. The National Weather Service's forecast calls for snow with a high near 35.
North wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Snow. Low around 27. North wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
2. Finals bound. The Merrimack High School varsity boys ice hockey team won its semi-final game against Bow High School on Wednesday night, 5-2. The win advances Merrimack, seeded first in Division II, to the championship game against Bedford on Saturday, March 9, at 2:30 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

3. Superb! Congratulations are in order as well for the JV Boys basketball team who earned a state championship win on Monday night, according to Patch reader Elizabeth Coates Seaver.
4. Learn Spanish. Children in grades K-3 are invited to Merrimack Public Library on Saturay, March 9, from 11-11:45 a.m. for an introduction to Spanish shared through stories, songs, and games. This week's theme: Greetings, body parts, and clothing. Registration is helpful for planning purposes. Register with an adult Merrimack Library card.

5. Visit Cuba. The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce is planning to travel to Cuba on June 7, and you are invited to join. According to the Chamber website "This people to people program has been designed to uncover the long lasting beauty and optimism of the Cuban people, to treasure their customs, from traditional rural life and Santeria practices to a culture of world-renowned art, music, and dance of Havana. There's no other country like Cuba."
