5 Things: MMS Teams Win Basketball Championships

Swan Chocolates among several NH sweet shops to be featured on NH Chronicle tonight.

Here are five things you should know as you start your Tuesday.

1. Congratulations in order. A very hearty congratulations is in order for the Merrimack 7th grade boys and girls basketball teams who, according to Vicki Harrison Amodio won their respective championships. The boys team additionally went undefeated on the season, she said. Congratulations to both teams on such outstanding achievement!

2. New blogger welcome. Please help Merrimack Patch welcome new blogger Michelle Hennas to the fold. Hennas, owner of Hairthurium in Merrimack, will be blogging about hair and beauty tips. 3. Tune in. Tonight on NH Chronicle, Erin Fehleau will be bringing viewers on a tour of some of New Hampshire's most beloved chocolatiers, just in time for Valentine's Day. In the line up? Swan Chocolates in Merrimack, The Chocolate Fanatic in Amherst, The Chocolatier in Exeter, The Dancing Lion in Manchester, and Granite State Candy Shoppe in Concord. Chronicle airs 7 p.m. on WMUR Channel 9.

4. Girls on the Run. Registration for Girls on the Run begins today on the GOTR website. Girls on the Run combines training for a 5k run with lessons that inspire them to recognize and honor their individual strengths and talents and to celebrate their inner selves," according to the Girls on the Run website. "The culminating event of the 12-week season is the opportunity for the girls to participate in a non-competitive 5K running event. Get more information here.

5. Weather watch. A little sun and higher temperatures like today wouldn't hurt if they'll help melt down some of the massive snow piles obstructing views around town. Today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 44. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 23.
