5 Things: Police Raise $5,900 for Special Olympics
Morning news and notes in a tidy package.

Here are five things you should know as you start your Tuesday.
1. Dunk-a-roo. Members of the Merrimack Police Department took a chilly dip in Lake Winnipesaukee over the weekend in the annual Winni Dip fundraiser for New Hampshire Special Olympics. Collectively, all the Winni Dippers raised more than $60,000 for the cause, and over $5,900 was from "Team Merrimack PD." Check out photos from the dip on the Merrimack Police Department Facebook page.
2. Now open. In case you missed our story on Friday, Merrymac Games and Comics, which took over the former cafe space occupied by Out of the Woods Cafe, opened on Monday. New product will be rolling in to fill out the store as the weeks go by and there will be a grand-opening style celebration coming on Free Comic Book Day in May. Read more about the store here.

3. Burn permits. As snow melts and residents start gathering branches and brush that may have come loose during the winter, it's important to review Merrimack's laws regarding outside burns. Burn permits must be obtained from the fire department. Seasonal permits are available. For more information, visit the Merrimack Fire Department website.
4. Town meeting a month away. It's town meeting day for most of New Hampshire's towns, but Merrimack's town meeting is still a month away. Take the next 30 days to familiarize yourself with the issues and candidates. For ongoing information about the town and school budgets and warrants, visit Merrimack Patch's voter guide.
