A New Tenant for Former Olympic Video?

Morning news and notes for Merrimack on Sept. 17.

A business move. If you've driven past the former home of Olympic Video in the past couple weeks, you may have noticed an open door and work trucks parked outside. It's true, a new tenant is moving into the spot – from all the way across the parking lot. Strikeback Dynamic Defense Systems is moving into the space next door to Dominoe's Pizza, providing them with 1,100 more feet of space, owner Bill Spinney said Monday. With the need to be out of their old home by the end of the month, Spinney plans to have the new dojo open as of Oct. 1. Check back early next week for a story about Strikeback's move.

See the Sox for a buck. No joke. The Red Sox are offering bearded fans (we're talking real or fake beards here, folks) tickets to the Sept. 18 game against the Orioles for $1. Learn more about how to take advantage of this late season deal.

Erica's Run. There are just a few days left to register for Erica's Run, which is this Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. Erica's Run is held in memory of Merrimack resident Erica Pombrio who died of cancer Sept. 19, 2009. The money raised from the race goes toward helping other families in Merrimack dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Registration is $25 and race-day registration is accepted. Register online or download a registration form on the Erica's Fight website to bring with you the morning of. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The race starts and ends at Merrimack High School.

An invisible what, now? Architects in South Korea have been granted to build a new 1,476 skyscraper named Infinity. It is said to be the world's first "invisible skyscraper." According to an article on Mashable.com, LED cameras are going to be used to project the skyline behind the building onto the front facade, which will make the edges of the building blend into the background. Weather watch. A cooler day today before temperatures climb back into the 70s. Today's forecast calls for a high of 63 degrees, and sunny skies. A true early fall kind of day. Tonight, bundle up and make sure your plants are covered. Temperatures are expected to dip to just above freezing at 36 degrees.
