Another 4-8 Inches of Snow Expected Today
State of Emergency declared for New Hampshire.

Snow will continue to fall today after last night's dump buried much of the region as it slept.
The National Weather Service is calling for another 4-8 inches of snow today, adding to the 13-19 that were expected to cover Merrimack overnight. According to the forecast, the snow is likely to slow or even stop by 2 p.m.
A blizzard warning in place for the region said snow and wind were expected to peak in Merrimack on Saturday morning, with the heaviest snow and the strongest winds running through the early hours of the day.

Sustained winds of 20-30 mph are likely with gusts of up to 45 mph possible.
According to the NWS, "A blizzard warning is issued when sustained winds or frequent gusts over 35 mph are expected with considerable falling and/or blowing and drifting snow. Visibilities will become poor with whiteout conditions at times. Those venturing outdoors may become lost or disoriented. So, persons in the warning area are advised to stay indoors."

In addition to heavy snow and high wind, today's weather will be accompanied by cold temperatures and downright frosty wind chill values. Today's high of 20 may feel like -3 with the wind chill, and the low of 7 degrees tonight may feel like -2.
Friday, Gov. Maggie Hassan requested residents of New Hampshire stay off the roads as best they can until the storm has passed. She declared a state of emergency in the state early Friday evening.
