Candlelight Vigil Planned In Merrimack For Elijah Lewis On Sunday
The event, originally planned to bring attention to the search for the missing 5-year-old boy, will now focus on helping the family heal.
MERRIMACK, NH — A candlelight vigil is planned on Sunday for Elijah “Eli” Lewis, the 5-year-old boy whose body authorities believe was found in the woods in Abington, Massachusetts on Saturday.
The vigil was originally scheduled to bring focus on the search for Elijah and to keep photos and information circulating. Now, it will focus on justice after his death.
Merrimack police, New Hampshire State Police, and others were searching for the boy for about a week but clues led investigators to Massachusetts on Friday. An extensive search at a state park in Abington, MA, based on information that had been “vetted,” and the discovery of what is believed to be Lewis' body. The New Hampshire Attorney Generals Office said that they believed Elijah was deceased based on new information that had been learned from investigators.

Saturday at a news conference, it was announced that the body of a young boy believed to be Elijah had been found “under dirt,” in the park. The grim discovery brought the search to an end in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Blue ribbons began being displayed around Merrimack during the search and were a symbol of hope and keeping the focus on the investigation. The number of ribbons continues to grow all over New Hampshire but are now serve as a memorial to Lewis.

The vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at Watson Park in Merrimack. Organizers hope the vigil will help show support to the family and friends of Elijah. It is also an opportunity for people to thank the hundreds of people who have worked on the investigation, and search. Watson Park is located at 441 Daniel Webster Hwy in Merrimack.
