Chimney Fire Damages Interior Wall of Woodward Road Home
No injuries reported as a result of the fire that took about an hour and a half to extinguish and overhaul on Sunday night.
Merrimack firefighters quickly knocked down a chimney fire on Sunday night, preventing it from causing more significant damage, according to Merrimack Fire Marshal John Manuele.
The Merrimack Fire Department was called to 8 Woodward Drive at 8:11 p.m. on Sunday for a reported chimney fire. The owner told first responders that he believed he had a chimney fire due to smoke coming out of the fireplace into the home.
Capt. Manuele said fire personnel found a working fire inside the wall around the fire place. After pulling apart the mantle, firefighters from Engine 1 and 2 were able to attack the fire aggressively and extinguish it.
