Concert to be Held to Honor Cpl. Tim Gibson

Here are five things you should know as you start your Tuesday.

1. Merrimack Rocks. The Merrimack Town Council voted unanimously last week to expand the Merrimack Fall Festival to include an evening event. "Merrimack Rocks" will be an evening of live music, fireworks and tribute celebrating Merrimack and honoring a hometown hero, Marine Cpl. Timothy Gibson who died when his helicopter crashed in Iraq in 2005. Also to be honored are all Merrimack High State Championship teams and a lifetime achievement award will be given to someone who has spent almost 50 years serving the people of Merrimack as a volunteer. The event will be Sept. 28 at the new Pavillion at Watson Park and will be funded through the generous support of the Greater Merrimack business community. Admission will be free and those interested in sponsorship opportunities can e-mail Dave McCray at dmccray7@aol.com or call 603-913-5558.

2. Buckle Up NH. This week is Buckle Up NH week, designed to promote the importance of wearing a seatbelt at any age in a moving motor vehicle. Read more from the Buckle Up NH Coalition here. Last week, Merrimack Police Department conducted a seatbelt challege with teens racing around a Merrimack Police cruiser seeing which teams could get buckled fastest. One picture is above, check out more on the Merrimack Police Department Pinterest page.

3. Box Tops for Education. Merrimack Middle School's Parent Teacher Group is collecting Box Tops for Education. Each box top is worth 10 cents for the school.  Print off a collection sheet here and turn them in at Merrimack Middle School at your convenience.
