Crash at Exit 10 On-Ramp Sends 2 to Hospital

A yellow Volkswagen bug was towed from Industrial Drive around 12:45 p.m. Friday following a two-car accident that sent two people to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

An alert sent by Merrimack Police at 12:40 p.m. asked motorists to avoid eastbound travel on Industrial Drive for about an hour while the accident is investigated. The road re-opened at 1:13 p.m.

Police are releasing little information about the accident at this time, but Merrimack Police Sgt. Brian Levesque said at the scene that one occupant from each vehicle was transported to the hospital with injuries.

The Volkswagen had heavy front-end damage while the white cargo-style van, with the word EcoLab emblazoned on the side and back, had moderate damage to its back end. The accident occured in the area of the Exit 10 southbound on ramp on to the F.E. Everett Turnpike.

Both vehicles were traveling in the eastbound direction, Levesque said. He said he didn't have any more details at this time, but that the department would send a press release out later Friday afternoon.
