Fire Department Extinguishes Dumpster Fire
Merrimack Fire and Rescue log from March 15-17.

Friday March 15, 2013
3:36 a.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to a single family residence on Buttonwood Lane for an elderly female with abdominal pain.
Ambulance 1 and Engine 2 responded and found an elderly female with weakness and abdominal pain. The patient was treated and transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
7:18 a.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to Amherst Road near the intersection with Peaslee Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with power lines down.

Ambulance 1 and Engine 2 responded and found a single car motor vehicle accident with a telephone pole broken and lying on the car and wires were down across the road. Power was out in the area. A teenage female was assessed for injuries and did not require transport. Engine 2 remained on scene until PSNH personnel were able to remove the hazard.
9:40 a.m.: Station 2 was dispatched mutual aid to County Road in the Town of Amherst for a structure fire.

Engine 2 responded and provided manpower and equipment for fire ground operations. Engine 2 returned to Merrimack at 2:20 p.m.
10 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Cassie Lane for a Carbon Monoxide detector activation.
Engine 1 responded and determined the problem was a smoke detector with a bad battery.
10:28 a.m.: Ladder 1 was dispatched mutual aid to County Road in the Town of Amherst for a structure fire.
Ladder 1 responded and provided manpower and equipment for fire ground operations. Ladder 1 returned to Merrimack at 12:32 p.m.
2:23 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to the Merrimack Medical Center for an adult male with chest pain.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an adult male with abdominal pain. The patient was treated and transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
2:23 p.m. Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Berkeley Street for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1, 2 and Ladder 1 responded and determined the problem was a malfunctioning oil burner. The oil burner was secured and the home was ventilated.
2:38 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Carriage Lane for an elderly male with neurological problems.
Ambulance 2 and Engine2 responded and found an elderly male with diminished consciousness. The patient was evaluated and transport was refused.
2:38 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to the Mastricola Upper Elementary School for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1, 2, Ladder 1 and Ambulance 2 responded and determined the problem was a popcorn machine being used in the hallway outside the all purpose room. The popcorn machine was moved from under the smoke detector and the alarm was reset.
5:56 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Joanne Street for an elderly male who was shaking uncontrollably.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an elderly male with signs of hypothermia. The patient was treated and transported to St. Joseph Hospital.
7:40 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Joanne Street to check conditions.
Ambulance 1 responded and checked the home for Carbon monoxide. No CO was detected.
Saturday March 16, 2013
10:16 a.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to DR Power Equipment for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1 responded and cancelled all other units as Station 1 had received a call from the property rep stating it was an accidental activation. Upon arrival it was determined that a sprinkler contractor had set off the alarm while servicing the system. The system was reset.
11:25 a.m.: Station 2 was dispatched to a single family residence on Four Winds Road for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 2 responded and determined the problem was a malfunctioning detector due to age. The homeowner was advised to replace the detector.
11:42 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a multi-family residence on East Ridge Road for smoke coming from a dumpster.
Engine1 responded and found a garbage dumpster on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. The Fire Marshal investigated and the cause was determined to be due to the improper disposal of smoking materials.
Sunday March 17, 2013
9:47 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Blossom Lane to stage for police for an adult male who was threatening suicide.
Ambulance 1 responded and was cleared to assess the patient. The call was determined to be a police matter.
11:50 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Blossom Lane to assist the State Medical Examiner.
Engine 1 responded and provided assistance for scene decontamination.
2:06 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Tanager Court to check conditions.
Engine 1 responded and found an illegal outside fire set by juveniles. The fire was extinguished and the fire marshal will be investigating.
3:09 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Windover Lane for a reported outside fire.
Engine 1 responded and found an illegal outside fire. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner was advised of the outside burning regulations.
2:38 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to a single family residence on Greeley Street for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1 and 2 responded and determined the problem was smoke from cooking.
7:25 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to a single family residence on Partridge Lane for a reported electrical fire in a stove.
Engine 1 and 2 responded and determined the problem was a shorted heating element in a stove broiler. The stove was disconnected from power and the area checked for extension. No other issues were found.
