Firefighters Knock Down Dumpster Fire Near Propane Tank

The dumpster fire was near a large home under construction on Dumas Lane.

The Merrimack Fire Department responded to 8 Dumas Lane on May 12 to extinguish a dumpster fire at a new home construction site.

The 30-yard dumpster was fully involved when Fire Marshal John Manuele arrived on the scene at 12:41 p.m., with the fire only about 15 feet from a large home under construction. It was also near a 120-gallon propane tank.

The fire was declared under control 11 minutes after firefighters first responded to the scene.

The fire was caused by a careless disposal of smoking materials, according to Merrimack Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.
