Flood Watch in Effect for Merrimack

National Weather Service has hazardous weather outlook in effect until 6 p.m.

A flood watch is in effect for Merrimack and surrounding areas as well as much of New Hampshire until 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain through this morning may produce flooding of urban areas, small streams and rivers. Rainfall rates of around one inch per hour are possible at times, mainly in any thunderstorms. Rain should taper off Tuesday morning before showers and thunderstorms redevelop Tuesday afternoon. Rainfall will average an additional 0.5 to 1.5 inches through this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: If you live in a flood prone area, take time now to protect any items that could be damaged by flood waters. Have a safe place to go in case flooding occurs. Drivers should plan on alternate travel routes. This is especially true in urban areas where road closures are possible.
