Gov. Hassan Applauds St. Gobain for 6 Million Hours of Safety

The governor visited the Merrimack tech company as part of her Innovate NH Tour on Thursday.

Gov. Maggie Hassan visited St. Gobain Performance Plastics on Thursday morning as part of her Innovate NH tour, but she was visiting on a special day as the company celebrated Environment, Health and Safety Day and six million man hours without time lost. (That equates to about 69 days.)

The governor applauded the tech company for it's continued work as an industry leader. The company is known for its creation of the habitat roofing membrane that was used to build Cowboys Stadium out in Dallas.

It is also rolling out a bottom grill sheet that cooks hamburgers at high heat and reduces splatter to McDonald's Restaurants worldwide.

Saint-Gobain has committed to reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of their North American service buildings, bringing each new building’s thermal performance into compliance with the most stringent national standard, according to a press release sent from the governor's office on Wednesday.

During her visit, Hassan met in a closed room with company executives to learn more about their business and then she spoke one-on-one with project managers for various products the company has developed, including the Habitat Roofing Membrane, the Bottom Grill Sheet, and more.

She then addressed a group of employees about their achievements as a company and the importance of expanding tech businesses in New Hampshire (watch her remarks above).

Hassan's Innovate NH Tour has taken her around the state on visits to innovative businesses and she has held discussions with local leaders, educators and citizens, as part of her efforts to reach out to Granite Staters for their input on building a stronger, more innovative New Hampshire. In January, she stopped at Nanocomp Technologies in Merrimack as part of the tour.
