Hassan, Ayotte Visit Merrimack

The governor visited Solidscape Inc. as part of her "Innovate NH" tour.

Gov. Maggie Hassan and U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte both made stops in Merrimack on Friday.

Hassan continued her "Innovate NH" tour with a visit to Solidscape Inc. in Merrimack on Friday morning. During her visit, she was scheduled to discuss the measures she laid out in her State of the State address to build a stronger workforce and help innovative businesses create good jobs that can support a strong middle class.

Located at 316 D.W. Highway, Solidscape Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-precision 3D printers, materials and software for direct manufacturing of solid objects designed in computer-aided design.

Ayotte, meanwhile, was scheduled to visit McClellan Automation Systems on Continental Boulevard. McClellan is a custom automation systems firm that employs approximately 140 workers.

Ayotte was to meet with president Jim McClellan to discuss the company’s business with the medical device industry, which has been hard hit by the Medical Device Tax – a $29.1 billion excise tax that took effect last year as part of the health care law. Ayotte has visited medical device companies across New Hampshire to hear first-hand from employers about their concerns with the tax, which threatens jobs and stands to increase costs for consumers. She is cosponsoring legislation – the Medical Device Access and Innovation Protection Act (S. 232) – to repeal the tax.
