Krupp Asks for Your Vote for School Board

Candidate has passion for curriculum, leadership experience that could serve board well.

To the Editor:

Fellow Merrimack Residents,

My name is Gary Krupp and it is with great pleasure that I write today to announce my candidacy for the Merrimack School Board. My wife and I have four sons and, like most parents, we want the best for our children. I am passionate about curriculum, particularly for math and science education, I want to find ways to improve communication and collaboration with parents and responsible budgeting is important to me.  My leadership and project management experience from my Air Force career will serve the Board well if I’m elected.

When considering curriculum matters, I believe that literacy and mathematics are the key components in the education of children.  Therefore, we cannot afford to “miss” on these basics so I favor a strong focus on effective elementary education.  Beyond the basics, my personal history includes attending a community college, a liberal arts college, a large state university and a competitive graduate school which give me a wide breadth of experiences to draw upon when making curriculum decisions.

With four sons from ages 6 to 18, I can relate to the fast-paced life of the modern family.  Effective communication leveraging existing technology options will maximize transparency by making information readily available to the community at little or no additional cost.  Schools need to make extra efforts to include parents in important decisions, and to have open and frank conversations with staff about what is working, what isn't, and what the Merrimack School District can do to improve.

As a taxpayer, I also recognize the challenges the District faces in an era of declining school populations, aging facilities, a tough economy, and ever growing pressure to tighten budgets.  We must look for innovative ways to reduce our tax burden. I welcome the challenge of helping to develop fiscally responsible budgets.  The analytical skills I have developed over my engineering career will help the District maximize the effectiveness of every dollar spent by Merrimack taxpayers on education.

I have served in the U.S. Air Force, was an active member of the School Budget Committee for the past 2 years, and have been an advocate for taxpayers and parents before the School Board on a variety of issues.  I am open-minded and enjoy respectful debate to support sound decision making. My website can further acquaint you with my background so please take a few minutes to check it out at www.ggkrupp.net.  Don't hesitate to use the “contact me” link to send me a message or better yet, give me a call at my listed phone number.  After you have studied the candidates, I hope you will recognize my passion for improving curriculum, my commitment to improving the partnership between parents and educators, and my drive to develop responsible budgets that all taxpayers can live with.  I respectfully ask that you consider voting for me for School Board on April 9th.

Thank you

Gary G. Krupp
