Weekend weather outlook. Looking to enjoy a great first weekend of August? Make sure you know what the forecast is looking like before you head out. (Hint: It looks like a pretty great weekend!)
- Friday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m. Patchy fog between 7 and 9 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 82.
- Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
- Saturday: A slight chance of showers after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 82.
- Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.
- Sunday: A chance of showers, mainly between 1 and 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
- Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 55.
Catch a weekend show. The Derryfield Repertory Theatre will present "Hairspray," Broadway's musical comedy phenomenon that inspired a major motion picture. The cast features emerging talent from New Hampshire, Boston, and New York City. Performances are Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3 at The Derryfield School Performing Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.derryfield.org/summer/DRT or at the box office before the show.
Start your training. Looking for a couple of good fall road races to train for? There are at least two in Merrimack that go to support great causes. Why not sign up now and start training today? First up is Erica's Run, a fundraiser in the name of Erica Pombrio, a young Merrimack woman who died of cancer in September of 2009. The money raised from the race goes to the Erica Pombrio Foundation and is used to help families with mounting medical bills due to cancer. Register on Active.com. More information about Erica's Run can be found on the race website. Lace up again on Saturday, Oct. 5, for the Merrimack Firefighters 5k and support the Professional Firefighters' Local 2904 raise money that is put into their community programs accounts.
