Learn More About Lyme at Local Talk

Also, the Town Council meets tonight at 7 p.m.

Lyme disease talk. Join Lyme disease experts for a free public talk on Lyme Disease in Milford on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by J.P. Pest Services, the discussion will be led by Alan Eaton, research entomologist at the University of New Hampshire, Amy Hollengreen, owner of Amherst Animal Hospital and Gail Vanark, a certified nurse practitioner at the Center for Preventative Medicine. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period. The free event will be held at the JP Pest Services Training Center, 34 Hammond Road, Milford. Town Council to meet. The Merrimack Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Matthew Thornton Room on Thursday, Oct. 10 for a regularly-scheduled meeting. On the agenda, the Council will hear from a Life Scout regarding construction of an information kiosk at Veteran's Park Boat Launch, they will discuss a grant for new portable radios for the Police Department from Homeland Security grant funds and they will hear from the Town Manager on the setting of tax rate, among other things. Get the full agenda on the town website.

Thursday Night Throwdown. Tonight, baristas will go head to head in a latte art competition at A&E Roastery in Amherst. The competition is $5 to enter, and anyone who has experience on an espresso machine like the one in the shop is welcome to participate. The event itself is free to the public, though donations are accepted. All money raised at the events go to support Coffee Kids. Winners will receive gift certificates donated by local businesses.
