Learn the Ropes of What Your Local Police Do

Merrimack Police Department now accepting application for Citizen's Police Academy.

The Merrimack Police Department is now accepting applications for its Citizen’s Police Academy. The academy begins Jan. 23, 2013 and concludes on April 3, 2013 with its graduation ceremony.

Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. with one Saturday morning class at the police station. The topics discussed are: Criminal law, motor vehicle law, domestic violence, narcotics investigations, emergency communications, firearms demonstrations, non-lethal weapons, self-defense and a mock trial in dstrict court.

Any person interested in attending the Citizen’s Academy may pickup an application at the Merrimack Police station. Attendees must be at least 18 years of age and the chief of police reserves the right to deny applicants for reasons he deems appropriate.

Applications for the Citizen’s Police Academy can be downloaded from the Merrimack Police website at www.merrimackpd.org under (Forms) then (general forms) or picked up at the Communications Division window. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 1, 2013.
