Police: Mom Left Son, 4, Alone in Hotel Room

The following information was provided by Merrimack Police. An arrest does not indicated a conviction.

A Nashua mother was arrested in Merrimack on Sunday after she was found passed out in a vehicle at a local hotel with a young child in the vehicle.

Amanda Sandy, 24, of 130 E. Hollis St., Apt. B, Nashua, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child on Sept. 29.

According to police, they responded at 4:41 p.m. to the hotel to check on an individual who was passed out in car in the parking lot. Police said they discovered Sandy and the child in the vehicle. They also learned Sandy had left her 4-year-old son unattended in a hotel room for several hours.

Sandy was arrested and held at the Hillsborough County House of Correction overnight on $2,500 cash bail. Her two children were released to the custody of a family member.

Sandy was scheduled for arraignment in Merrimack District Court on Sept. 30. A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in prison and up to $2,000 in fines.
