Local Sleuths Get Their Spy Cred At The Library

The lower level of the Merrimack Public Library was turned into a spy camp on Thursday afternoon for kids ages 10 and up.

Around 30 eager sleuths rotated through stations that included target practice with Nerf guns, the laser maze and observation station.

Target shooters took aim with six "bullets" in their guns at paper targets with higher point values for hitting more critical areas, like the heart and head.

At the observation stations, Merrimack's burgeoning spies had 5 minutes to observe several items on a table and commit them to memory before having to recreate the list of items and test their memory.

The laser course was set up in one aisle of books in the children's room, using a web of red string that they then had to weave their way through.

Each sleuth was scored on their skills with tally boards to keep track of who would emerge as top detectives at the end of two hours of fun.

This is just one of several activities planned this summer to keep Merrimack youth entertained and having fun with their peers during the summer reading program.
