Man Accused of Domestic Assaults
Merrimack police charged the man with domestic simple assault and obstructing the report of a crime.
Merrimack police arrested a local man May 5 on charges of domestic simple assault and obstructing the report of a crime.
Timothy Lewis, 27, was arrested on the charges early Monday morning, police said.
Officers responded to a local condominium complex at 1:19 a.m. for the report of a domestic assault and learned that Lewis allegedly assaulted a family or household member numerous times. Police say Lewis also took a phone away form the victim when they tried to call police for help.
Lewis left the scene and was believed to have been picked up by a friend from Massachusetts. The driver refused to pull over in the vicinity when asked to stop by an officer, and sped off from the area, according to Merrimack police.
Officers a short time later found Lewis walking on Continental Boulevard and police said he admitted he was picked up by a friend and dropped off.
An officer located the vehicle nearby and the driver, Sean Tibbetts, 27, of 115 Stuart Ave., Dracut, Mass., was arrested and charged with disobeying a police officer.
Lewis was placed on $15,000 cash/surety bail that he was unable to
post and was scheduled to be arraigned May 5 in the 9th Circuit Court in
Merrimack.
Tibbetts is scheduled to be arraigned May 13 on the charge of disobeying an officer.
