Man Arrested After High-Speed Ride Through Outlets Parking Lot

Police say an Amherst man hit another car and fled at a high rate of speed following the accident.

A man's dangerous crash course through the parking lot at the Merrimack Premium Outlets resulted in his arrest on nine charges Saturday evening.

John Kelekci, 30, of 10 Fox Run Road, Amherst, was charged with conduct after an accident, reckless driving, criminal mischief, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug in a motor vehicle, possession of a narcotic drug with intent to distribute and two counts of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, after police were called to the Outlets for a hit and run.

Merrimack Police say they were called at 7:25 p.m. May 11 by a person whose vehicle was hit by Kelekci in the parking lot at the Merrimack Premium Outlets. The driver told police in an effort to get away, Kelekci drove over the lawn at the outlets, damaging it, and then took off at a high rate of speed. As offiers were responding to the mall the vehicle in question passed an officer driving approximately 60 miles per hour while still on the mall property, police said.

Other police officers were able to stop the vehicle on Industrial Drive and Kelekci was arrested for reckless driving.

Once at the police station Kelekci was found to be in possession of narcotic prescription drugs that he did not hold a prescription for.

He was placed on $5,000 cash bail, which he was able to post. He was ordered to appear in the 9th Circuit Court District Division in Merrimack on May 16 to answer to the charges.
