Man Charged With Stealing From Local Resident

Police say the man was temporarily staying at the home where a laptop, checks and credit card were stolen.

A man who police say was staying at a local home recently, has been charged with stealing a laptop and checks from the person he was staying with, and using their credit card without permission.

Douglas Tinker, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested around 2:15 this morning on a warrant for four counts of theft by unauthorized taking and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police say the resident alerted them at the end of February to the missing items and the misuse of the credit card, giving them Tinker's name as a possible suspect.

A local business where the credit card was used had surveillance footage that confirmed Tinker was the person who used the credit card, police say. He also allegedly cashed a stolen check at a local bank, police say.

Tinker was arrested on the charges but he refused bail and instead spent the night in Valley Street Jail in Manchester pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Court, District Division in Merrimack this morning.
