Mental Evaluation Ordered for Nashua Man Who Allegedly Attacked Mom

Court documents show Thomas Foden had history of schizophrenia.

A Nashua man who is accused of assaulting his mother in a violent home invasion on Sunday has a history of mental illness and is being ordered to have a mental health evaluation, according to an article on the Union Leader website on Tuesday night.

Thomas Foden, 39, of 57 Tyler St., No. 409, is being held on $150,000 cash bail after Merrimack Police say he broke into his mother's Pond View Drive home and attacked her. He was charged with burglary and three counts of second-degree assault.

According to the article, court records show Foden caused serious injuries to his mother, Alicia J. Flanders, 66, that include a severed ear, a ruptured eye socket, and a serious laceration to her head. He allegedly shoved her head through a glass door. Foden has a history of schizophrenia and has been ordered to stay away from his mother if released on bail, according to court documents.

Police say they were called to the home on Pond View Drive on Nov. 25, where they found a woman with severe injuries. Foden was still on the property when police arrived and was taken into custody an charged. He was initially held on $50,000 cash only bail.
