Merrimack Celebrates America's Independence

It  was a scorcher, but hundreds of people celebrated America's Independence (and the return of the sun) as they lined the streets for the annual Merrimack Fourth of July parade.

Led by the Merrimack's Police Color Guard and the VFW Honor Guard, and brought up by the Merrimack Fire Department, this year's parade included Scouts, local dancers, the Spartan Drum  and Bugle Corps, the Muchachos Drum and Bugle Corps., two bagpiping organizations, local dancers, a cheerleader and Pat, the New England Patriot's mascot, among many others.

Earlier in the day 585 runners crossed the finish line of the Merrimack Sparkler 5k and dozens enjoyed a pancake breakfast. Following the parade, people descended on a midway full of inflatable adventures and booths set up by local businesses and organizations, food and a dunk tank, where several local notable names (including the police chief) volunteered to get soaked.

The annual celebration closed with fireworks launched from Merrimack High School.
