Merrimack Fire And Police Respond To A Report Of A Body In The Merrimack River

A deceased man was found by hunters in a canoe along the edge of the Merrimack River in an area off Wright Avenue on Sunday morning.

MERRIMACK, NH — The body of an adult male was located near the bank of the Merrimack River off Wright Avenue Sunday morning.

Merrimack Fire Rescue and Merrimack Police were dispatched to the area for an “item found in the water.” Two hunters, who were on the river, located what appeared to be a deceased person and called 911. Due to the very steep embankment, it was initially difficult to find the hunters, who stayed by the body until first responders arrived. By phone, they were able to pinpoint the correct area.

Responders worked their way down the embankment and determined it was the body of a man that appeared to have been in that location for an extended time period, possibly months.
