Merrimack High School’s Most Popular Programs at Nashua Community
MHS alumni thrive in business, software, and liberal arts.

Students from Merrimack High School represent the third largest group enrolling at Nashua Community College behind Nashua and Hudson.
Among the top program choices are Business Management, Software Development, Criminal Justice, Biology, and General Studies Health. Liberal Arts leads the way, with many students in the program transferring to four-year institutions.
“Merrimack High School students have started at Nashua Community College and transferred to institutions such as UNH-Manchester, Granite State College, and Boston College,” said Alicia Jean, an enrollment specialist at Nashua Community College.

Merrimack’s top choice programs make sense compared with the high school’s Running Start selection, which includes a list of business and software development courses. Taught by high school teachers at the Merrimack campus, Running Start provides both college and high school credit for a single course.
A similar option, Early College, offers high school juniors and seniors significant discounts on college courses taught at Nashua Community College by college faculty. Students may also receive high school credit for the course pending approval by their high school.

An online option, eStart, provides 100 percent online college courses for high schoolers through the Community College System of New Hampshire. Through these three dual and concurrent enrollment pathways, high schoolers from Merrimack and across Greater Nashua have saved thousands and earned up to two years of transferable college credits.
Students and families are welcome to Nashua Community College anytime to learn more about the 50+ degree and certificate programs offered on campus. Merrimack and NCC have also partnered to organize “Career Discovery Days” for high schoolers at the college.
Merrimack’s most recent trip to NCC was built around student interest in business and management. “As part of this year’s Career Discovery Day, Merrimack High School students were engaged in exploring business careers and program pathways,” said Jean. During the last academic year, Running Start business courses at Merrimack High School included Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, and general education requirements such as College Composition.
